Uranium Backup version comparison
This brief summary illustrates some program features and the existing differences
between various versions of Uranium Backup:
Free (freeware)
Backup through direct copy or with zip compression on local/network hard drives, NAS servers, REV/RDX drives, external USB/Firewire/SATA hard
drives, network
computers, etc...
Limitations compared to Base version: it cannot make FTP backup, it hasn't the possibility of deleting old files (synchronization), it can't be run as a Service, it cannot create zip files
bigger than 4 GB (Zip64), there isn't technical support.
Base
Compared to the Freeware version it allows to make FTP backup (upload and download)
and e-mail backup, it can create zip files bigger than 4 GB, it can
be run as a Service, it can make file deletion (synchronization) and has the auto-update feature.
Pro Tape
It has all the features of the Base version with in addition the Tape Backup
functions. It supports practically any tape drive (SCSI, IDE, USB, SAS,
etc...) and the most
used types
of tape cartridges: DAT, DDS, DLT, SDLT, AIT, VXA,
LTO, etc...
Pro Burn
It has all the features of the Base version with in addition the
capability to burn files on CD/DVD/HD-DVD and Blu-Ray discs. Backup to any type of optical media:
CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, BD-R/RE, HD-DVD-R/RW and DVD-RAM media are supported, including modern high-capacity double layer DVD+R, dual layer DVD-R, Blu-Ray and HD-DVD.
You can also create multisession discs and ISO files.
Pro SQL
It has all the features of the Base version with in addition the possibility
to make backups and restores of MS SQL Server databases (versions 7.0, 2000, 2005, 2008, Express
Edition). It allows to configure and schedule an unlimited number of backups and
restores
of local or remote servers, without any service interruption. Integrated
data compression and strong encryption.
Gold
Full version: it includes all the features of other versions, with in addition
the capability to copy locked files using Volume Shadow Copy. It also allows to make
"hot backups" of running virtual machines.
