New Features

Now you can select more disks/partitions for the Drive Image Backup
Now the program writes in the log if the Shadow Copy option is available/enabled
Increased from 5 to 10 the maximum number (by default) of chained tasks to run before and after a Backup Set

	July 30, 2009: Version 7.5

New Features

Service: now in the Backup Set information panel the program shows a message if the Backup Set is running through the service. A little "play" symbol appears in the Backup Set icon. Moreover it is also shown a link with which you can terminate the backup process depending on Process ID.
Service: removed the possibility to use the option to make the service able to interact with the desktop on Vista and later (because this mode is no more supported)
Language files: now they are installed on a common system folder (no more in the program installation folder)
Unicode characters support in the main menu

Fixed bugs

Fixed an error message on an SQL Server item when you added other folders in the list of the items though the multi-selection button.
Tape: now the program doesn`t make the verification if no file has been copied, because in this case the verification always raises an error (for example if the program makes an incremental backup and doesn`t copy any file)
Fixed an error that caused item duplication if the item had a file filter set and you deleted one of its own destinations.

	Uranium Backup 7.4 --- June 26, 2009

New Features

Added a new option to recreate the entire path of the items in the Direct Copy and Zip compression
Increased the number of allowed characters for the user name in the FTP destinations
Added the "64 bit" information in the log for the operating system description
Added the symbolic name in the tape drive description in the main and detailed log
Removed the link to create a Windows scheduled task in the scheduling panel (the link is still present in the Backup Set contextual menu)
The date selection lists now show the current date by default

Fixed an error in MD5 verification with files in the disk root (e.g.: C:) and when was used the "unique root folder" option.
Fixed and optimized the function to check the existence of files on FTP servers: with some NAS servers or UNIX/LINUX systems Uranium got an "authorization denied" error and so it was not able to check the existence of remote files, transferring again at each backup all files, regardless if they have been modified or not.
FTP Download: fixed an issue in reading file dates and in checking the existence of local files
Fixed an error of copy on Tape and on ISO file of the items that were set to be copied only in their own destinations.

Now you can send the test e-mail also with the advanced options.
FTP destinations: now you can add two destination addresses, separated by a ";". If the program fails to connect to the first address, it tries to connect to the second and put a notice in the log.
Tape: improved the visualization of the data in the progress window
Tape: the "tape full" error now is handled better
Tape restore: the error "no more data", when the backup is incomplete (for example in case of aborted backups), is handled better
Tape: when a backup is stopped by the user or is aborted due to an error, the tape backup details in the main log does not remain incomplete

Fixed bugs

SQL Server: automatically excluded from the backup the system database "tempdb", which cannot be backupped and thus generate an error
Fixed "access denied" error to "junction" folders in Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008: these are just a sort of links for compatibility with older versions of Windows and therefore should not give error
Tape: fixed some bugs in the exclusions of specific files and folders
Tape restore: fixed memory errors when displaying files contained in the tape in case there was a larger number of files
Fixed a bugs when creating the root folder in FTP destinations (including SQL Server items that had to be copied in common destinations).
SQL Server: solved the problem regarding a blank error message if the control of existence of backup files gave negative results
To avoid errors in the update of the Uranium.exe file, before the auto-update Uranium closes all its other instances.
Fixed a bug in incremental zip compression: altough the option to use information from previous backups was set, it was not considered and so the program always recreated the whole zip file if the destination was changed.

Volume Shadow Copy: now the program starts and stops automatically the Shadow Copy services. It is no more necessary to enable Shadow Copies from Windows volume properties.

Zip compression: now the program shows the progress while it`s writing and reading the temporary file: with very large zip files the program`s interface was frozen.

Fixed bugs

NAS, Linux (Samba) destinations: solved the problem in reading file dates. Files were always copied even if they haven`t been modified.
Now the program returns the backup error in the log if there are some unavailable items when creating aggregated zip files.
Solved possible problems with tls/ssl libraries in e-mail sending, if there are other libraries of the same type installed in the system
Incremental zip compression: some little fixes in file deletion

- New behavior of the option "In case of error continue the backup anyway": now the program try to continue backup even if there have been errors during file opening and reading process (after the file list creation). It tryes to copy that files using Volume Shadow Copy if they are locked, while if it fails doing this or that files no more exist, the backup will be completed anyway, reporting all errors (even if, obviously, files that generated errors will not be available for restore).
- Optimized the compression and decompression procedures: up to 30% faster in compression of big files
- Restore: now the list of files on tape shows for each file its correct associated icon (in the previous versions all files had the same icon)
- New option to verify the backup (integrity check) after its completion
Logging:
- Modified the management of the tape backup detailed log: now it follow the rules used for the main backup set log, maintainig a pre-established number of files (general/advanced options): this avoids the continue increase of the number of logs
- Added a new voice in the log panel menu to open the log folder in Windows explorer
- Modified log files folder path: the temporary log files has been moved in the backup set specific folder for log files (could cause overwriting errors in case of several concurrent backups). Other log files has been moved in their specific folders under the "Log" folder.

Note importanti sull`aggiornamento alla versione 6
La versione 6 presenta molte differenze rispetto alle versioni precedenti, e per questo il programma, alla prima esecuzione, importa e converte automaticamente i backup set e la configurazione eventualmente creati con le versioni precedenti. Per lo stesso motivo, in questa fase di transizione alla versione 6, quest`ultima non sarà resa disponibile nell`autoaggiornamento del programma, ma dovrà essere scaricata dal sito ufficiale e installata.
Pur disponendo il programma di una funzione di backup nell`effettuare la conversione, è sempre consigliabile fare una copia della configurazione di Uranium prima di installare la versione 6, e successivamente controllare che non si verifichino errori nelle procedure di backup con la nuova configurazione.

Backup di Database SQL Server:

Uranium può eseguire il backup diretto di database Microsoft SQL Server (2000, MSDE, 2005, Express) anche su server remoti.

Questo tipo di backup può essere fatto tranquillamente anche se il server database è in esecuzione, e può essere agevolmente pianificato per l`esecuzione automatica.

Uranium permette di creare procedure di backup per un numero infinito di Server SQL, specificando per questi diversi parametri. La configurazione di questo backup è semplice ed agevole, e con essa l`utente può impostare diversi parametri di connessione, il percorso e il nome del file di backup (aggiungendo anche un timestamp), la compressione del database prima o dopo il backup, ecc...

Infine, oltre al backup vero e proprio l`utente può pianificare anche delle operazioni personalizzate da eseguire sul DBMS, ovvero l`esecuzione di Stored Procedures o l`esecuzione di un qualsiasi comando SQL contenuto in un normale file di testo.
