- Yes, Uranium is able to copy any open/locked file using the Volume Shadow Copy technology. This feature is available only with the Pro Shadow and Gold editions for Windows XP, Server 2003, Vista, Server 2008 and Windows 7 operating systems, 32-bit / 64-bit.
^Back to top- Can I make Exchange Server backups?
- Yes, there is only a limitation: it’s not possible to back up individual mailboxes.
In fact, with the Gold/Pro Shadow editions, you can use the Volume Shadow Copy feature to copy locked files. So, you can copy the entire Exchange mailbox folder without interrupting any service ("hot backup").
In order to restore the server, you can simply move the backed up folder into the Exchange folder and then set up the .edb files from the management console.

- Sure. Uranium can perform network backups from/to computers running other operating systems like Linux or MAC OS X, through Samba or other file transfer protocols (FTP, SFTP, FTPS).

- Yes, it’s possible to set up the automatic shutdown simply checking an option in the Backup Set's "General options" panel.
^Back to top- Active Directory Backup: can Uranium back it up?
- Yes, Uranium can perform the Active Directory backup as part of the "System State" backup of a server. In the Windows 2000, XP and 2003 operating systems, you can do it using NTBackup as a plug-in of Uranium (System State Backup with NTBackup). In Vista, 2008 and Windows 7 operating systems, you can do it using an Uranium's integrated function.

- Yes, Uranium allows to configure download tasks of an unlimited number of websites, through FTP/FTPS/SFTP protocols. You can even specify what folders or subfolders you want to include or exclude from the download.

- Uranium provides powerful encryption features (AES 256 bit), that can be used to make zip files created by the program completely secure. Only with the encryption key is possible to read the content of the zip file, using the integrated decryption tool. You can also set the classic zip password. Encryption features are very important especially in file transfer tasks. For all these reason, Uranium is one of the best solution to protect the privacy of your sensitive data.

- Yes, Uranium allows to exclude or include specific files or folders, or to set up a filters based on file extensions.

- Yes, Uranium can back up an unlimited number of SQL Server databases from a single installation. It is compatible with all SQL Server editions: 7.0, SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005, SQL Server 2008, Express Edition. It includes integrated compression and encryption and the possibility to copy the backed up files to any destination, like NAS, Tape, DVD, FTP, etc ...

- Yes, Uranium Backup supports practically any tape drive and any tape technology, including DAT tape drives (for example HP DAT 72/160/320, SCSI, USB, etc...) and high capacity LTO Ultrium tape drives (up to LTO 3, LTO 4 and LTO 5).

- Yes,Uranium Backup is perfectly compatible with Microsoft SBS (Small Business Server) 2011

- Yes, you can use Uranium to make online / remote backups to save your data offsite over the internet. Uranium allows you to back up you data to any remote server that supports the FTP / SFTP or FTPS protocols. The data can be encrypted and transferred over a secure channel, in order to protect them from unauthorized access.

- Yes, Uranium allows you to create drive image backups in a few clicks. The disk images are perfect copies of the whole system and can be used to completely recover it in case of crashes, hardware failures, virus infections, etc ... The disk images created by Uranium are in VHD format, so they can be explored to recover individual files/folders or used to make a bare-metal restore, even on different hardware.

- Yes, Uranium Backup can copy files and folders to unlimited mass storage devices and to any other computer in a network. You can synchronize files between your computer and your external hard drive, and make exact copies of files to any NAS device. Uranium can create incremental backups and can delete old files from the destinations if those files have been deleted from the source folders.

- Yes, Uranium is a powerful data burning program, that can automatically write your important files to DVD and to high capacity Blu-Ray discs. Uranium supports any burning device and any DVD/Blu-Ray disc type, including rewritable ones.

- Yes, Uranium Backup provides one of the best and most detailed e-mail notification systems. You can set up Uranium to send you an e-mail each time a backup is completed, or only in case of errors. You can specify multiple recipients and select various conditions and parameters to decide in which specific cases you want to send an e-mail notification.

- Yes, it's true. Uranium allows you to upload files and folders to remote servers using the well-known FTP protocol. You can use this feature to make online backups of your data but also to transfer unlimited files and folders keeping their original structure. If you are a webmaster or a web developer, Uranium can update your website each time you modify something, transferring automatically the changed files.

- Yes, Uranium can run external programs or scripts before and/or after the backup execution. You can run the external programs depending on different conditions, and pass to them dynamic parameters by command line.
